New Sketch Challenge

This card is for yesterday’s SCS Sketch Challenge 161.

Ok – So i finished this card yesterday, but it has taken until today to upload it. Oh, Well!
I pretty much just used the scraps from cards that I have made from previous challenges. Apricot Appeal, Choc Chip (of course) the Cutie Pie DP, and WW. I used my cuttlebug to emboss the AA paper. I used some pewter hardware and added the fun new felt flowers from SU!
For the sentiment I used SU Fundamental Phrases. I was going to just use hello, but then I thought I would add friend to it. Now I have that stupid song stuck in my head … Hello my friend, Hello! AAAHHH!!!

Stamp Club Done!

Posted by emileehathaway on January 30, 2008

Well, it didn’t take too long but I did finally get the rest of my stamp club invitiations done!  It has been so hard to get anything done lately, my little man is not feeling very well.  We have not been sleeping very well either.  He has ony been sleeping about 7 or 8 hours a night which means I am only getting 3 or 4 and he’s not taking very good naps.  So he is exhausted, I am exhausted from being up with him all night … I was talking to my MIL and she was saying that when my DH was a baby she had to lay him on the floor because his crib freaked him out.  Kyler is acting the same way.  I think he HATES his bed so, tonight I am going to try it.  The pediatrician told me to let him cry it out and I know it might work for some babies and some mom’s, but I just don’t have the heart to listen to him cry!  Hopefully we get some sleep tonight!

Yo-Yo Yellow … Yuck!

Posted by emileehathaway on January 29, 2008

img_1088.jpg

Here is my go at the color Challenge for today (CC151 Yo-Yo Yellow, Going Grey and Basic Grey), and let’s just say, I am NOT a fan of yo-yo yellow. In fact, I don’t think I have ever used it before. So, needless to say this was really hard for me.

I wanted to use my new Embrace Life stamp set so I stamped the main flower image three times on yo-yo yellow with black ink. I colored in the shaded parts with versamark and then heat embossed them with Iridencent ice powder. I stamped the leaf image on whisper white and ticket punched the edges of each of the layers. I then stamped the sentament and punched it out and layered it with my 1 3/8″ circle punch and the scalloped flower punch and added a little bit of ribbon. I also added the yellow rhindstone brads for the center of each flower. They were layered with dimentionals.

Oh, and I also sponged all the yellow with White craft ink to tone down the yellow!

Hope you like it!

Stamp Club!

3 hours later …

Ok – so this took entirely way to long to put together!  Holy Cow!  I thought I would never finish it!   All I wanted to do was to put something cute and simple together and I think I tore this thing apart about a dozen times!

I recently became a Stampin’ Up! demo (back in October) and I decided that I wanted to start a stamping club so that once a month friends, family, neighbors – whomever could get together and have a good time stamping.  I have had a group put together for a while now – but since we are building a house and waiting for our current house to sell, I have been putting it off.  Well, I decided to start it anyway – and February sounded like a good month to start with Sale-A-Bration starting.  So to let the girls know when and where I made this little postcard to send out.

I started with a 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 piece of Wild Wasabi, then added the Black 2 by 4 1/4 piece of basic black.  Then going down by quarters I added the River Rock and Wild Wasabi DP.  I used the flower stamp from In the spotlight and stamped it three times once in river rock, wild wasabi and purely pomegranate and then punched them out with the SU punch.  Then I added the black dots with my 1/16 punch.  Then after it was put together I decided to add some white ribbon.

What took so long was using my cricut design software to write out the stamp club and create the scalloped rectangle.  It didn’t take long to put them together, but I used different colors to begin with so I had to scrap what I had just cut and start again LOL … Like I said this took way to long!  Hopefully now that I think I know what I am doing the rest won’t be to bad!

Yet another…

Valentines Day card.  This was inspired by SCS’s sketch challenge this week (#160).

This has been the craziest week!  Everyday I tell myself that I need to do something, but by the end of the day I have either run out of time, or am too tired to do anything!  But tonight, I put my little man to bed early and I hit the craft room.  I have a lot of stuff that I wanted to get done tonight, so here is the first.  It’s not that fancy, but I just loved the layout.  Hopefully I will be able to post again with another fun little treasure!

This card was made with the same recipe that all the other vday cards are made of.  Choc Chip cs, WeR DP, Whisper White, Dashes Dot’s and Checks Ribbon and Timber Brown Stazon ink.  I did add one more embelishment … one piece from the pewter hodgepodge kit.

Pixie Pocket

It’s been a while since I have posted, it’s been a crazy weekend, but it was great to stamp today.  It’s pretty much taken all day to get this done, I worked for about 20 minutes in the morning while Kyler slept, then another 20 minutes during his afternoon nap, then finally was able to finish after he went to bed.  He is starting to get to the point if he’s awake – stay out of the craft room!  There’s no telling what he will get into! LOL.

Here is my go at today’s SCS challenge.   I had a ton of fun making this – I’ll definately have to do this again.  One more valentine’s day card done, two more to go.

The Cutest Milk Carton

Posted by emileehathaway on January 17, 2008

img_1068.jpg

This is for the tutorial on SCS today.  Isn’t this the cutest?  I had so much fun making it.  Beate’s Tutorial (http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/milk_carton_box) is very user friendly, you should definately check it out.

I started with a piece of Not Quite Navy, then added the DP by WeR.  I used my scallop punch, and circle punches and the Flower punch to embelish the front of the box.

Too Cute, and Too much Fun!

A new Color Combination

Posted by emileehathaway on January 15, 2008

img_1065.jpg

I have never put this colors together before, but I think it works well!  This card is for the Color Combination challenge CC149.  I used Apricot Appeal as the card base, Sage Shadow and Rose Red for the layers and accents.  I mentioned yesterday that the UPS man stopped by and he dropped by this new stamp set (One of a Kind).  I just love it.  I think the flowers and sayings are so cute!  I used the hardware from the pewter hodgepodge kit, white grosgrain ribbon and a rub on from the SU Eastern Elegance set.  It’s kind of hard to see, but I used Crystal Effects on the two flowers.  I used it on the outline and on the dots in the middle.  I had to hurry really fast with this card so I used the paper and the stamps that were sitting on my table.  I had a sneaking suspicion that my little guy was only going to a 45 minute nap and guess what … I was right!  Well almost.  He took a 40 minute nap so he had to sit on my lap while I uploaded the card.  It’s not easy to type with a 10 month old on your lap! LOL.

A new technique …

Posted by emileehathaway on January 14, 2008

img_1064.jpg

It made me laugh so hard when I saw SCS’s challenge this morning.  After yesterday’s dissertation on Valentine’s Day and all the cards I was making, today’s challenge was the Heart technique (TLC151).   I had so much fun with this, I got to use all my new things.  I used my new DP, punches and stamps from SU!  The UPS man came today and I was so excited I couldn’t wait to get started.  I started with a 4 1/4 by 11 piece of Choc chip and added a triangular piece of Old olive.  I then layered a piece of Whisper White sponged in Choc Chip, then added a piece of DP in Pretty in Pink.  I made the heart out of Pretty in Pink DP as well and then mounted it on Choc chip so it would stand out a little bit.  I stamped the flowers on Old Olive and punched them out with the Boho Flowers Punch.  I then stamped the For You saying on Old olive and backed it with the Designer Label Punch in Choc Chip.  It’s kind of hard to see that I used choc chip instead of black.  This is absolutely my favorite color scheme.  I just love pink, brown and white together.  I wear it, I stamp with it, scrapbook with it … I can’t get enough of it :).

Happy Heart Day

Posted by emileehathaway on January 13, 2008

img_1062.jpgThis is unusually early for me, but I have started working on my Valentines day cards.  I usually start working on stuff one or two days before I need to mail them, but when I got my Happy Heart Day set from SU, I wanted to use it right away!  LOL!  I am very impatient when it comes to things like that.  🙂   When I do make cards for holidays, generally I make the same card for everyone, but this time I decided that I would make different cards.  I only have like 6 to make so I thought it would be fun to use the stamp set 6 different ways but to challenge myself I am using the same supplies for all the cards.  I have the first 3 done.  I think I like the first card best (with the elephant).  But it’s kind of busy …

My supplies for all my cards are:

Chocolate chip cardstock and DP from WeR, Whisper White cardstock, Dashes, Dots & Checks Ribbon, Stampin Pastels and finally SU diamond brads.  The funnest part of this project has been busting out my new Cricut design software and using it.  I used it for both of the scalloped chocolate chip cutouts.  It is not very user friendly – it takes a while to get the hang of, but once you do, it’s AMAZING!  I have been playing with it all day going through all my cartridges and making page borders and fun doodles to add to my cards.  I have wanted Nestabilites for forever, but just couldn’t justify them.  But now I can create my own with my new software (which I did last night – it took until midnight but I have the large and small scallops in circles, rectangles and square in 6 different sizes with 2 different scallop sizes.)  I know, I know I am crazy!  But once I figured out how to use the software, I couldn’t stop!

I think I’ll work some more on the rest of my vday cards later this week, but I’m not sure … It will depend on what challenges SCS puts out and how much time my little guy will allow me in the craft room.

Speaking of craft rooms … I am so excited!  We are building a new house (should have been moved in by Oct, but we can’t seem to sell our current house) and my DH let me put a craft room in the basement … We are talking the big daddy of all craft rooms!  I think that’s what I’m most excited about for the new house.  It is 12 x 18 and we are putting a bank of cabinets (uppers and lowers) on the 18 foot wall and then a 6-8 foot island in the middle for a work space.  I will finally be able to spread out.  My craft table now is a three foot circular table that used to be my mom’s kitchen table 🙂 but by the time I drag all my stuff out, I’m out of room to work.  Not that I’m complaining, I’m just SO excited about what’s to come!

Well – that’s all for now, Have a happy week!
